Depression, anxiety and yoga
I became a yoga teacher because the place I felt the safest, the most like me and the most at peace with myself was on a yoga mat.
I have suffered from depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember and there have been some incredibly low points in my life. I want to provide you with a place where you can start to appreciate you, just how you are, because that person is worth knowing and worth loving.
The principals behind yoga (kind of like the 10 commandments but without the religious aspects) are rooted in kindness, to others but ultimately to yourself. They teach us to accept who we are and to adopt thought processes that help us not to compare ourselves to others. In short they help us to be our own best friend.
Why is that helpful?
Because I bet you are much nicer to other people than you are to yourself.
